Inspired by a day of sketching at a local beauty spot in Cheshire, I wanted to bring the feeling of tranquility, peace and purity of the lake and the feeling of being in that space. The birdsong, calm water, sound of nature, through colour and the symbolism of the Calla Lily using greens, blues and white.
This piece evolved through layers of acrylic, expressive marks and playful shapes... White calla lilies and delicate seed heads rise through a dreamy waterscape of teal, moss green and blues, inviting quiet discovery and light movement across the surface. There’s a gentle tension between loose experimentation and considered detail — textured passages sit alongside crisp botanical lines to suggest both place and memory.
Painted in my Cheshire studio, this work brings a calm, hopeful energy and a touch of nature into any room. A lovely piece to brighten a living space, hallway or creative nook.
