Abstracting The Landscape Workshop

  • Waterside Studio Trap Road Congleton, England, United Kingdom (map)

Learn how to work with a limited palette and experiment with various mark making tools creating layers and surface interest

A workshop where a willingness to explore, experiment and play will lead us to reimagine the landscape and paint our very own abstract artwork.

Learn how to select and mix colours to evoke mood, experiment with mark making to express emotion and energy in your paintings.

We will use our sketchbooks to record our emotional response to our source material using colour, mark, shape and composition.

We will spend the afternoon working on our own paintings using using our mood boards and reference photos and our new vocabulary.

This workshop requires a willingness to experiment without judgement and we will spend the first hour unlocking our own prohibitors to making art that is free and truly authentic.

(There will be additional reference material provided if preferred plus an option to gather source material from the surrounding area weather and time permitting

There will be art materials provided, but as this workshop is all about what makes YOU feel alive I suggest that you bring your favourite items from your own tried and tested art kit.

Ideal if you're a beginner wanting to paint expressive landscapes or if you're fairly experienced and want to try something new.

This workshop is about putting YOUR interpretation on the subject. . It’s an extremely exciting way of working and suits all levels of ability from newcomers to acrylics to exhibiting artists!

Ideal if you want to loosen up and be more expressive.
