Clonterbrook Sketch Club is designed to encourage as many people as possible to get creative outdoors and sketch the environment in a supportive group of like minded people. This is an untutored event and free to attend.

Join me for a five hour deep dive into how we can use Colour and marks using acrylics to create a magical spring woodland scene.
Perfect for artists wanting to try Acrylics for the first time, or artists that want to develop techniques and learn about colour theory, colour mixing, using a limited palette to create harmony and how to use acrylic mediums to best effect.

Beautiful Bluebells Taster Day in Watercolours and Acrylics
Join Allie Pottinger and I at Clonterbrook Studios for a two part taster day in water based media!
Participants will be split into two groups to experience a taster session in Watercolour with Allie Pottinger, botanical illustrator in watercolours, and an introduction to acrylics with me. Both sessions will last approx two hours, with a break for lunch and a debrief with a glass of bubbly at the end.
It is always a real treat to spend time at Clonterbrook and you cannot help but be inspired by the beautiful tranquil surroundings. Suitable for beginners and no experience in either media required. We hope that this will give you a taste of how to use each medium with expert guidance from Allie Pottinger, watercolour illustrator and professional acrylic landscape artist.
All materials provided but please bring a packed lunch, a sketchbook and pencil and an apron!
You will come away with a painting in each media inspired by the lovely bluebells at Clonterbrook and a wealth of knowledge

Ever felt intimidated, shy or embarrassed by sketching outside or in public places? Activities that draw the attention of the public can be scary but with a group of likeminded people can be enjoyable, fun and fulfilling. That is why Allie Pottinger and I are starting Clonterbrook Sketch Club, to encourage as many people as possible to get outside and sketch from life. We are starting at our home base, Clonterbrook Studios and welcome you to join us for two hours of sketching in the grounds of Clonterbrook.
Please bring your own materials - there is a suggested list of must haves in my bio and we advise that less is more!

Join me for this one day workshop where a willingness to explore, experiment and play will lead us to reimagine the landscape and paint our very own abstract artwork.
Experimental Drawing Workshop
We start the workshop in our sketchbooks exploring how to create texture and marks with various dry media to use in our still life sketch
Join me for an exciting four hour deep dive into experimental drawing techniques where we will look at the importance of line, negative space, contrast, tone, composition, outline and texture! This is a fun workshop where the emphasis is on exploration, experimentation and play.
Perfect for artists wanting to explore new sketching techniques using graphite powder, Lyra sticks, charcoal, pen, and anything else we can make a mark with!
You will learn how to loosen up, sketch tonally, describe texture, use compositional tools and strength of line to emphasise areas of interest and think outside the box!
This is an exciting workshop that will focus on play, experimenting and creating visual interest using basic tools. The possibilities are endless and will transform the way to approach work in your sketchbooks!
Ideal for artists wanting to hone their drawing skills and learn ways to be more expressive in their art practice.

We are very excited to be flinging the doors of our studios open and sharing our space with some fabulous visiting artists including Karen Sillar, Printmaker and Clare Hales, Ceramisist!
Both Allie Pottinger, Watercolourist and I would love to see you over the weekend of 28th/29th June. We will be open from 10-4pm.

Sketch In The Park
Join me for a morning of gentle creativity as we explore West Park in Macclesfield using our pencils, charcoal and paper! We will look at composition, gestural marks to describe trees, foliage, plants and buildings, open areas, suggesting people in the landscape and more! Perfect for beginners or those wanting to get out and explore their local places of interest and learn how to approach sketching from life.
Workshop will last approx 2 hours and a cup of tea/ coffee and a slice of cake is included in the price!
All equipment provided…just book your ticket and meet in the cafe at 10am

Northern Girls Paint Out at Arley Hall
Join the Northern Girls for our summer Paint Out at Arley Hall!
Bring your sketchbooks, paints and easels and enjoy some plein air painting in the wonderful setting of Arley Hall in Cheshire.
We will meet at the cafe at 10am and move to a spot in the grounds where we can set up and paint from life.
Great for those who like to paint outdoors and prefer company. This will be an untutored day where you are free to come and go as you please.
